Clunking centerboard?

Postby dlazenby » Tue Jul 05, 2016 9:11 pm

Can anyone give me insight as to why the centerboard clunks when sailing downwind? Is this something to be concerned about? If so can I repair it myself?
Thank you all in advance.

Many centerboards clunk going downwind because there is no lateral force on the board. That is why the general rule is to raise the board going downwind because you don't need it at this angle of sailing and raising it will reduce drag and get you more speed.

Thanks Bob,
