New Boat Prices About 1985

Postby emenskl » Tue Jun 10, 2014 8:16 am

Would like to know what the price of a basic O'Day 26 was new in about 1985. Maybe someone here would know from a P23 or P27. Or know of a place to find out.

You can go into NADA and put in the options and they'll give you suggested retail price.

I talked to a friend today who had sold his 1987 O'Day 272 in April. It was in pretty good shape and he got $8000 for it. I thought that was a bit low. He did sell it to a friend so that might have influenced a lower price.

He thought a 26' would go for about $4-6000. It really depends on condition. The 272 has a diesel and he's seen them advertised from $2500 to $18,000, depending on condition.

Thanks guys, but it is the price new (O'Day 26 1985 or similar) that I seek. Mainly for curiosity. But, I am trying to construct a history log for the boat - owners along the way, prices paid, major trips taken, changes to the boat etc.

NADA will give you current indications (about $11,000 average retail for my O'Day 26 1985) but does not provide any historical information.

NADA does give you Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. You can also try over on an O'day forum, sometimes people have copies of brochures etc.

Thanks. I see they call it Suggested List Price and explain it as MSRP when you put the cursor over the field.
