P-15 CB Engine?

Postby Saltydoglab » Tue May 03, 2016 3:27 pm

Just bought a used P-15 and want to get either a Yamaha 2.5 or Honda 2.3hp engine for when the wind dies and as a backup and my wife and 3-yr old will be sailing together a lot. Motor is going to be hung over top lip of transom, NOT on an adjustable bracket. Lot of folks say the 20" shaft is better, but I thinking the 15" shaft would be fine as when using it weight will be in that back corner and the engine will be plenty low enough. By going 15" on the shaft also less to worry about in terms of the longer one dragging when not in use even when tipped up. So, does anyone have any advice based on experience with engines on the P-15? Thanks!

A long time ago we had a survey on outboards. You can view results here:

There might be something helpful still.

I have a P-15 CB. Wondering if anyone has experience with a Torqeedo Travel 503. Looking to get a small motor, not gas, as I do not want he mess and the smell. Looked at the Lehr propane motors, but after a few years, there seems to be as many bad reviews as good.
