How often should you sand and paint your hull bottom ?

Tell us your conditions. What is on the bottom now? Is it sailed in fresh or saltwater? Moored or trailered?

If you pick the right paint you never have to sand. Just add a coat and it dissolves away.

I'm in freshwater and have used Interlux VC-17/17m for 25 years and never sanded. Just add a quick coat every year. Never builds up, quick and easy to apply, dries in less than a minute. Teflon based with copper powder added. Fast smooth finish. Now also available from West Marine as FW-21 (compatible with VC-17) or Pettit SR-21 (probably makes FW-21).
