Shoot thru transducer -

Postby LamontCranston » Sat Jul 26, 2014 3:52 pm

New to the forum and the P-165. Installing a depth indicator, and mulling best position to mount the shoot thru - considering just abaft the crosspiece (behind the battery/under the cockpit) as it will be out of the way, easy to run the cable, etc)/ Anyone have any thoughts/concerns/experience/advice/warnings?

Thanks,

You can test various locations fairly easily, the pick the best one.

Cut a short piece of plastic pipe that is larger than the transducer. Use putty or modeling clay to bond it to the floor. Fill with water and place transducer in it. It will simulate closely bonding the transducer to the floor with epoxy.

I have a P165, also have a Catalina 22 Sport, which I added a thru hull transducer. According to instructions the transducer should be located ahead of the keel and as near or on the center line of the hull as possible.
